In addition to being Canada’s most honoured broadcaster, Lowell Green is one of Canada’s best-selling authors.  His first memoir, The Pork Chop and other Stories was the best-selling book in Eastern Ontario in 2005, outselling even the Harry Potter series.  His first novel, Death in October, became recommended reading in a number of Canadian high schools and his other books, How the Granola Crunching, Tree hugging Thug Huggers are Wrecking our Country, It’s hard to Say Goodbye, Hoodwinked and Mayday! Mayday! Curb immigration. Stop multiculturalism. Or it’s the end of the Canada we know!  have been runaway best sellers.

He lives with his wife Deborah on the outskirts of Canada’s Capital only a few minutes’ drive from Scotiabank Place, home of his beloved Ottawa Senators.  He dotes on three grandchildren whom he describes as absolutely the smartest, best-looking kids in Canada.

His numerous awards include citations from former Prime Ministers Pierre Trudeau and John Diefenbaker and Prime Minister Stephen Harper.  He is the recipient of far too many awards to list here including the Helen Keller Fellowship Award from Lions International, the coveted Gold Ribbon Award from the Canadian Association of Broadcasters, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association, and a special award from the International Olympic Commission for his broadcasts from the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.  He has a wing at an Ottawa Hospital named in his honour and has had a day named after him in the Capital.  A plaque naming Lowell as a “Community Builder” hangs in Ottawa City Hall.

Lowell is the co-founder of Big Brothers of Ottawa, founder of the Help Santa Claus Toy Parade in Ottawa, founder of the Ottawa Sunday Herald newspaper (now the Ottawa Sun) and co-founder of the largest chain of travel agencies in the Capital.

In addition to his writing, Lowell can be heard hosting the Lowell Green Show on CFRA in Ottawa, Canada each weekday from 10:00am – noon.  For years his radio show has been the top rated throughout Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec and one of the top rated talk shows in North America.  Two of his historic broadcasts are preserved in Canada’s National Archives.

His most recent book, Mayday! Mayday! Curb immigration. Stop multiculturalism. Or it’s the end of the Canada we know! Has become an international best seller with copies sold throughout Europe, the UK and Australia.

Mayday! Mayday! is credited with prompting a wave of public concern and anger over aspects of Canada’s immigration and multiculturalism policies. A wave powerful enough to embolden the Harper Government to launch a series of reforms including the publishing of the pictures and descriptions of dozens of men wanted for various immigration offences.

It is also worth noting that since the publication of Mayday! Mayday! The governments of Germany, France, Holland and the UK have tightened up immigration rules and either abandoned official multiculturalism or have made it clear that all new immigrants are expected to learn the language of their new country and fully integrate into the mainstream or everyday life.
